sarnath: Fai from Tsubasa reservoir chronicle (Hannibal serving tea)

I'm seriously loving this season so far, it's so gloriously, gloriously tense! And while I'm not entirely sure I should be feeling the way I do about the state Will Graham is in, I freely admit that I'm enjoying it immensely.

Now this episode which was apparently called Sakizuke and is the appetizer of the upcoming feast. I'm so ready! Or at least excited. I don't actually think I'm prepared for what's to come.

All right, so I hope you forgive my predictability. But seriously, that was one of the freakiest crime scenes so far! I was actually screaming "NO, NO" at the screen when the victim who woke up in the middle of that eye made of bodies was chased by the killer. I just wanted him to get away, but why I even for a moment thought he could, I have no idea, hah.

And is it just me, or is Hannibal even more monstrous this season? I'm deliciously scared when I look at him, and everything just seems to balance at the edge of some great precipice. I was so relieved that Bedelia managed to get away (and I hope it lasts!) and giving some comfort to Will on her way.

Poor Will, though! So completely caged, and not just in the physical sense. But still fighting back with everything he has while suffering beautifully. I'm really not a sadist, I know he'll be saved in the end and the comfort after all this hurt will hopefully be as satisfying as I expect. Here especially I feel the tension, between Hannibal and Will in particular; it's a new game for Hannibal, and Will is gearing up to fight it now that he's realised he's even in one. I love the fierceness behind Will's vulnerability, and I'd be lying if I pretended it didn't make all my slasher senses tingle. XD

Still as impressed with the visuals as ever. I fell really hard for True Detective much because of the ambience of dark, magical horror that permeated it, and much of the reason why I love Hannibal is the same. Though Hannibal wins by far when it comes to female characters, to say the least. But yeah, that dark, magical ambience is present in both is a major draw for me, even when, as in Hannibal, there's no actual supernatural elements present (though it was left ambiguous in True Detective it felt like it was a possibility in a whole different way).

I can't imagine how they will end this season.
