Harry Potter covers, art, and images in general

I got rid of my old tumblr because I wasn't using it and only got another to look at links that led there. I think it may be useful for something else, though; I wonder if it will work for image hosting? Since DW doesn't really have that service.

Come to think of it, it would be great if DW would allow comments by tumblr for when people post links to here from there (not that I know if that happens often, but it seems like the best option for wanting threaded discussion but the huge audience of tumblr).

Anyway, I've managed to dig up a few illustrations by the artist who made the Swedish Harry Potter covers, Alvaro Tapia. Unfortunately they're not of the highest quality, and I think most of them are photographs from an exhibition. Anyway, here's a Thestral!



I just love the wildness and strangeness in his Harry Potter picures, it really matches my view of the world even when the characters don't look exactly as I imagine them.

I would love it if they'd make it possible for people to comment with Tumblr accounts. I know there are various websites where you can comment using your Twitter, so I wonder if that'd be such a stretch...

It would just be so convenient! Maybe I could just mail in a suggestion, or something.

I love this artist's style, but most of what he's done seems to be out of print, unfortunately.

ETA: re image hosting, yes that's a problem. I am using posting by email which works well for images. If you want to use cut tags you just have to edit the entry right after but that's not so hard.

So there's image hosting, but only if you post by email? Weird! I might try that too, to see how it works. But what happens if it's an animated gif?

Well it's not hosting as such but similar. I really am not the best person to ask this because my account seems to have issues with that whole thing which haven't been resolved yet. Usually you should be able to access all the images that you posted via email and be able to change their security for instance (this doesn't work for me).
And I've never tried posting a gif (though mithen has, but I#m not sure if she used an external hosting service)... sorry don't know.
